Welcome by our President Dear Members, Colleagues, and Friends of the ESMRMB, As president of our society I am very happy to report that the society is in a healthy state and steadily growing with over 1200 active members. Our 28th Annual Scientific Meeting 2011 in Leipzig has been a successful and memorable event with great science, discussions and interaction thanks to our scientific programme committee chair, Prof. Ch. Segebarth, our local organising committee chair, Prof. Th. Kahn and the industry support, in particular the MR Enterprise members. We are already progressing towards the final preparation of our next Meeting 2012 in and look forward to meeting all of you in this attractive and vibrant city of Lisbon. Prof. Sunaert as head of our scientific programme committee together with Prof. Forjaz Secca, the head of the local organising committee, are extremely active to ensure another high quality meeting. Prof. Trattnig, together with the education and workshop committee, also compiled a very attractive educational programme ranging from MR basics to practical clinical applications. I am proud and happy to report that the society’s journal MAGMA has continuously improved over the last years now reaching an impact factor of 2.37. The society particularly thanks Prof. Cozzone, the Journal’s Editor-in-Chief. We invite you to consider MAGMA for the publication of your next study results. Many of you may be aware of the ongoing debate regarding safety regulations for workers’ exposition to electromagnetic fields. The current development is very disturbing and poses a serious threat to our field.
