"Heya Girls!"
Open days are organized for anything and everything. Open nights, on the other hand, are rather rare. This week we have one – which is a tremendous pleasure for me – because I’ll get the chance to see a film that I have missed. And even for free! On Friday, all those cinemas that have provided the Viennese cineastes with truly good movies, apart from blockbusters and Hollywood mainstream productions for many years will open their doors. During the “Art-house Cinema Night”, Filmcasino, Gartenbaukino & Co invite to premiers, previews, short films and debates. I will happily watch “Monsieur Claude and his Daughters” in the De France cinema, the Votiv shows the preview of “Die süße Gier” and those wanting to roll on the floor laughing should watch Cat videos: In a Sci-Fi special, the Jedi Kittens are travelling through the universe in their spaceship and fight against the evil with light sabres. The art-house cinemas want to thank their regular audience with this event. We thank them as well!

Fogo cuisine in HEUER at Karlsplatz
Culinary know-how transfer. Sounds good, tastes even better! The new event series “Cooks in Residence” from now on regularly provides intercultural exchange in the kitchen of HEUER at Karlsplatz. Top chefs from all over the world are invited to cooperate with the Viennese kitchen team. Murray McDonald from Newfoundland, Canada, will open the series and create an exquisite combination of Viennese specialties and regional cuisine of the island of Fogo. For example: king crabs with salt meringue and lemon ash, lassie loaf bread, venison with stewed elderberries.

Vienna Ice Dream & City Skyliner
Tonight’s opening of the Ice Dream at the City Hall Square provides us with a special highlight: For the first time, the 81-metre-high City Skyliner – a tower of glass with a rotating platform – will be set up at the square! The lift ride takes 1 minute and costs 7 €. Your reward: the spectacular 360° view over Vienna! Apart from that, ice princesses can expect the same as every year: romantic ice-skating on 7000 sqm and regional delicacies and hot drinks to fill your energy reserves. Fin + The Talisman Collection
The CitySpotterGirl has been a huge fan of singer-songwriter Juliane Blinzer since her performance at our summer festival in Phorusgasse. All the better that she is coming to our neighbourhood again – this time even with band. Under the name Fin, the four musicians experiment with influences of various styles of music. The results are passionate melodies combined with intimate lyrics. Listen here if you already want to get goose bumps. Focus Artisitc Research
The time has come again: The University of Applied Arts opens its doors – this time even with a shuttle service taking visitors from the main building to the individual expositions and back. Final projects of all disciplines will be on display. The class of world star Zaha Hadid, for example, presents tomorrow’s architecture. Brigitte Kowanz’ students will show transmedial works. Sculpture, fashion, photography, creative writing, landscape and industrial design will also be represented at the Open House! Plus: lectures, glass experiments & Co. A conglomeration of creative power for the curious ones!

Lotti at the Clock Museum
For the zeitgeisty ones among you! The great writer Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach had a secret passion: She loved and collected clocks. Her interest in the ticking companions also influenced her novel “Lotti, the clock maker", which was her breakthrough in 1880. Today, the writer’s valuable clock collection is exhibited at the clock museum – where the new reading edition of her most famous works will be presented tonight. The three editors are going to read thrilling text excerpts. After the lecture, enjoy a guided tour through the Grande Dame’s clock collection.

Orenda Fink
There may be a connection between the singer-songwriter’s origins in the endless expanses of Nebraska and her thoughtful songs about transience and loneliness. Her first solo album “Invisible Ones” was a huge success. Tonight she visits Vienna with her new CD and will enchant the audience with her authentic voice, beautiful lyrics and great energy. “Blue Dream” is the new album’s name. Here is a first sample. She is still melancholic. But songs like “All Hearts Will Beat Again” make us feel hopeful and peaceable.

Petz im Gußhaus
His time at Meinl am Graben was legendary, just as his time at Palais Coburg – but then Christian Petz left the luxury gourmet temples behind. The top chef’s new motto was: affordable food on a high level for everyone. This was first realized at the Badeschiff, since last week he has lived out his big dream: a genuine Viennese restaurant. And eating is great fun there: kruspelsptiz, spinach pudding, divine deserts - excellently cooked and served in a friendly and straightforward way. A bit more expensive than normal pubs – but food-lovers and gourmets are already queuing up.
