"Heya Girls!"
It seams a bit stressfull these days. Here, there, everywhere. We could all go for a bit of soul petting. Which is also what Finnish performer and dancer Arttu Palmio tought – he invites his public individually to a one-on-one dialogue, to find out from each person what they'd like to stop worrying about and what they'd like to be free from. "Welcome" is an intimate meeting on the edge of theatre and real life – and takes about 20 minutes per person. Whichever problem ladies will take with them, Arttu Palmio will listen in his own very special way during the interview, will worry and finally, will develop an individual performance for everyone – as a present, and maybe even as a liberation. Isn't it nice? A game between reality and fiction unfolds, between sobriety and kitsch. Letting go has possibly never been this easy ;-) Sigh!

Wishing you a nice week

Standard Fashion Tour
No, this is not Bobo-Country! But it is all the more creative, the 15th district – which is really getting clear today with the Standard Fashion Tour. After closing time, off-spaces, pop-up stores and back rooms in selected shops and designers open their doors to hidden door shopping. Ladies can travel through the district at their own pace and glance behind the scenes, ask questions, rummage, try out – and, of course, shop. At every stop, there are specials, discounts or workshops. And for support, there are sweet and spicy treats as well as drinks from small producers.

Garage sale at sixxa
This is a real pity for girls who like casual street wear: sixxa’s doors have been closed since the end of the year. There's a huge garage sale to see the store off, where ladies can buy designer Kathi Macheiner's hip items at giveaway prices. Colourful shirts, comfortable hoodies, jackets – and so much more, since furnishings ranging from boxes to tables are also sold there, art books, art toys, skate stuff by adhoc skateboards and Cleptomanicx, dress forms, computers. In short: all kinds of nice and convenient things from the abandoned store.

Qigong for the eyes
A tip for people who, like the CitySpotterGirl, spend their time in front of the pc! In TCM, visual defects are seen as a lack of Qi, which can have many causes – stress, work-related strain of the eyes, working with screens. In this course, relaxing exercises will first relieve pressure and stress, followed by eight simple eye exercises from Daoyin Yangsheng Gong. The exercises are performed while comfortably sitting. The programme is complemented by massages of acupuncture points and exercises for shoulder & neck.

Open house day: Filmschneiderei
The mere thought of bleak movie nights, where full-length wedding videos are presented, is tiring. Alexandra Schmid makes her appearance as a savior with her Filmschneiderei: under the motto "short and good instead of long and boring", the professional editor polishes dusty footages of hobby film makers to a sheen. For its 5 year-anniversary, she invites all to a birthday cake and drinks and lets people glance over her shoulder during the open house. Oh, and every visitor gets a small present. For this occasion, bring some old material!

Eve in Paradise
An European-Oceanic promenade mix: that's Eve in Paradise. Or also: a band that bets on a wild mix of tango, Balkan music, jazz and chanson – in short, Baltango. When actress Eva Maria Neubauer enters the stage with her boys, be ready for an emotional roller coaster. First melancholic, then some soft ballads, and the swing of jaunty Balkan rhythms is never far.  With accordions, guitars, contrabass and off goes the colourful journey: the troupe presents its first CD at this concert.

Mystical places in Viennese churches
Track down mysterious places of power in Vienna! They're mystical, quiet and emit a very special attraction: places of power. But where do these places of contemplation and quiet hide? Vienna-guide and author Gabriele Buchas knows many of them and leads us to the most exciting scenes during an inner-city walk. Focus of today's tour: the mysticism of old churches. Far from the hectic pace of everyday life, the route leads to St. Michael church, then to St. Ruprecht and Maria am Gestade.

Craft Nanas yourself
Joie de vivre really abounds here! Artist Niki de St. Phalle got world-famous with her Nanas: larger-than-life female figures, lushly formed, highly coloured and full of energy. These unconventional mood-lifters can simply be recreated this week-end with artist Petra Luckey-Schär, no artistic knowledge is needed. Just a dose of fantasy: these miniature Nanas (50 cm!) are made of papier mâché before being creatively painted by the participants. Please do sign up!

Doris Day, Hollywoods last virgin
She became a legend as the radiant blonde and neat lady of 1950s American films: Doris Day. Still, this exemplary image had little to do with the real life of Doris Day, who was born as Doris Kappelhoff in 1922 in Ohio. At the age of 15, she toured shabby night clubs as a singer, at 17, she married a psychopath, became a mother at 18 and divorced at 19. In his review, Andy Hallwaxx sheds light on the highs and lows of this eventful life, adorned with unforgotten hits of the chaste film icon Doris Day.

Brainstorming for one
Brainstorming, such as it was defined as early as 1939(!), relies on the association of many people's brain work. But what can be done when there aren't any other heads within reach? Coach Petra Hennrich has conceived and assembled 50 tools and exercises to stimulate creative thinking, even on one's own. She doesn't accept any excuses, since: every person is creative – the magic word is simply practice, practice, practice! This pleasant seminar is for all who want to discover and widen their creative potential.

The small homeland-museums from the districts of Vienna are among the CitySpotterGirl's favourite places. Today, all district museums are opening their doors – under the motto "Vienna 1914, the end of an era" – with free admission! Many small but charming exhibitions can be seen, as well as an extensive accompanying programme. Money. New rules of the game
The man causes a sensation! In his common economic welfare, he demands an alternative economic system, now Christian Felber wants another monetary system. In his new book, he describes a vicious circle: money is actually a means to an end. It should help us, and instead we are confronted to worldwide financial crises. Money doesn't simplify life anymore, it controls it. Felber explains how to break the circle and how to bring money back into circulation in a democratic way during this book presentation.

Dinner for one
It speaks for itself that cooking for one is often very tedious. Such a huge effort, just to sit at the table alone and clean up everything as quickly as possible. Heidi Strobl turns the tables. As master of the discipline "i für mi" ("I for me"), she summons up in no more than 15 minutes a satisfying, sustainable meal. The basic idea: simple meals made of a few seasonal ingredients. Ladies can learn that in Strobl's cooking course. Together, 6-7 quick meals are cooked. There's wine to accompany the juicy cod and fluffy dessert.

The secret story of Viennese women
Ever heard of Franziska Dannenberg-Löw? This resistance fighter saved the lives of thousands of Jewish children during the NS regime. And still – just like so many other special Viennese women – she fell into oblivion. These feminine traces can be pursued today: pedestrian representative Petra Jens invites all to a city walk that will uncover the hidden story of women in our city. The route leads to Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus over the Gürtel all the way to Neubau, the tour is free. An interview with Petra Jens can be found on the portal.

Stadt: Beton(t) frei
The gallery eigensinnig doesn’t wilfully show Dennis Iwaskiewicz's pictures for the second time without a good reason. The young Viennese street photography artist has a unique sharp eye for people in urban spaces. In seventeen analogue pictures, he documents the contrast that results from the city's geometrical forms and the people who live in it: here, pink sun worshippers lie on grey stone steps that grow into the sky. There by the pool – defined by exact borders – a hose is the only hint of the presence of people. Great!

Palm Leaf Libraries
Knowing one's own future, knowing today what will happen in many years – a fascinating perspective. In India, there are palm leaf libraries, where the destiny of millions of people is written in Sanskrit or Old Tamil on thin dried holly leaves – a leaf for each life. According to legend, they were read out of the Akasha Chronicle by seven holy Rishis over 7000 years ago. What truth lies in these messages? Journalist and expert Annett Friedrich invites everybody to a slide show today.

Talea
Going to the cinema for free? That's right – for cineastes today during the operation "Eine Stadt. Ein Film“. ("One city. One film.") Talea, Katharina Mückstein's first film, is shown for free on the screens of 16 Viennese cinemas. In this movie, the young director tells a touching story: since Eva (played by Nina Proll!) was in jail, her daughter Jasmin grew up in a foster family. Later, mother and daughter start getting closer: belatedly, and under extreme circumstances. It also convinced the critics: Talea was nominated for the Austrian film award.

Very chic! Ex-bank manager Vaz-König doesn't only like cooking healthy food, she also enjoys pretty things. The deli bluem looks really nice – and vegetarians can also have fun with the menu. From breakfast to diner, there are only veggie meals made mostly from organic ingredients.
