"Heya Girls!"
Actually, it is hard to believe: Agatha Christie’s play “Mousetrap” has been showed every day (!) for 60 years in London’s West End – and for 60 years, not one spectator has revealed the ending. So those who want to know who the murderer is must actually see the play for themselves. And this is also the case in Vienna. Kammerspiele have dressed up this charming old fashioned whodunit play as an English cinema film of the 1940s – including film music and credits. There, the guests in a small country hotel are separated from the outside world by a raging snow storm and then, a murder occurs. How does it go from here? You can find out all week in the Kammerspiele. And since we’re talking about detective stories: on the portal, you can find a new interview with the Viennese Elis Fischer, who, just like the heroin of her thriller, inherited a painting bearing a mysterious inscription. And made a book out of it: Bridget Jones meets Dan Brown.

NY skirts by Camou
Now this is almost a digital “wink wink” to the CitySpotterGirl’s teen daughter ;-) . While daughter has already been spending time in New York for weeks, mum sits at home. And since there is justice, daughter is freezing her butt off and we are elatedly running through mild almost-springtime air. While wearing the latest New York skirts by the young label Camou. Designer Beatrik Feher prints pictures she took in New York and Budapest on skirts, dresses and jackets. Casual and comfortable! Available at the “Piratin”.

Schuhquadrat pop-up outlet
Do women still need winter shoes this year? Of course! All the more when the luxury shoes are available at outlet prices. In the middle of the first district, a pop-up outlet offers last season’s brands 30 to 50% cheaper, making Boss or Joop affordable. The ongoing changing offer ranges from ballerinas to high heels and boots, and naturally, bags shouldn’t be forgotten. Both the furnishing and the service are reduced to the minimum, colourful price tags lead through the cardboard towers. No one knows how long the pop-up store will be there – so don’t hesitate too long.

Paul T. Frankl
Hitchcock, Charly Chaplin and Gary Grant loved him. The architect and designer Paul T. Frankl, born in 1886 in Vienna, was influenced by American modernism like no other. During the mid-1920s, he made it into the New Yorker high society with his “Skyscraper” furniture, in 1934 relocated to Los Angeles and as a designer furnished the houses of Hollywood stars. Sophisticated, in a combination of East-Asian motives and the modernistic design of the European avant-garde. In Austria, only a few know of Frankl. It could change with this exhibition!

Sabine Freitag has wandered through Vienna and has even brought two artists with her: Nicole Wallner and Mieze Medusa. During their playful trip through the city, they have observed people and allegedly spied into famous places. Result: for three nights, each lady will present their very own view of the city. With her pictures, Sabine Freitag will look into the secret behind the Mannerschnitten wafer biscuits and the so-called “Fiaker-Knödel” dumplings, Nicole Wallner will present a moving installation. What can we particularly use during the winter? A bit of warm South-American lifestyle, please! This is why a hot Argentinian night and all that goes with it is brewing at the Ost-Klub tonight. Night of spiritual songs
This is a wonderful beginning of the year: sing and listen to heartfelt songs from all over the world! Ten years ago, the “Nacht der Spirituellen Lieder” (or „Night of spiritual songs”) was invented in Germany. On this occasion, hundreds of people meet to sing together simple songs from different spiritual traditions of world cultures. For the fifth time, such an evening also takes place in Vienna. For four hours, until midnight, you can sing, chant, yodel and resonate together – or simply just enjoy the sea of sound and let your soul fly.

Sea Eagle Counting
Wow, how majestic! And rare as well: for many decades, the sea eagle wasn’t indigenous in Austria, but since then, he has come back. And it is not only the Stadtspionin who thinks it is a reason to celebrate: during this Sea Eagle Symposium, everything revolves around this fascinating bird of prey. The highlight is a synchronous Danube-wide counting of sea eagles, during which the population will be controlled over 9 Danube countries and 3 000 kilometres of river. Those who hike to the ruins of Rötelstein can count with the experts and watch over their shoulders. Afterwards: speeches and a buffet. Free admission, please sign up.

Yamato – The Drummers of Japan
These women and men from Japan dance, shout, play (some of them huge) drums while seemingly flying like birds – the “Drummers of Japan” are a rather impressive experience! From the originally strict religious drumming, they have created a pulsating performance that tells stories of the sun, the wind, the human soul and the evening sky. The whole thing sounds archaic and modern at the same time, loses nothing of its spiritual roots and is perfectly choreographed. A must see!

Doris Uhlich: more than naked
A nudie! And another one! All in all, 20 dancers unveil themselves in „more than naked“. In Doris Uhlichs piece, meat is wiggling, flicking and wobbling around like crazy, bodies clasp against another, sweaty people move to dance floor hits and baroque sounds. In the meantime, Doris Uhlich, the unconventional figure of the Viennese dance scene, acts as DJ on the stage. She gives the rhythm and shows the naked body in an unusual light: not embarrassing, not provocative, without any sexualisation. Instead of that, it shows up as a subject and as such, the way it actually is: bulky, powerful and fragile, too.

Life is constant change. And so, the cook of the wonderful ON Market hit the road and opened his own restaurant. Optically decent (and naturally not a sensation like the ON), Küche 18 is a friendly bar, in which one thing counts more than anything else: the cooking skills of Chef Liwei Sun. He wants to present an authentic Chinese cuisine – and it is sometimes not very far from its Viennese counterpart. Only, the gulasch here is called “red marinated meat”. Nice: the original dim sum und la-mien soup from Sun’s hometown Qiang Tian.
