 Welcome by our president
Dear friends,

At the end of another successful year for the ESMRMB, I would like to convey my best wishes for 2015. After the largest ever joint ISMRM-ESMRMB meeting in Milan, we are slowly gearing up to prepare an unforgettable meeting in Edinburgh on October 1-3, in 2015. I will have the pleasure to preside this meeting, that has a particular resonance to me (pun intended!), as it will take place in the country I elected to work in, the United Kingdom. So, please mark your calendar, as the very talented and hard working team led by Assoc. Prof. Marion Smits from Erasmus MC in Rotterdam is putting together an amazing scientific programme, as always aiming at presenting the best in MR research in a modern and friendly atmosphere.

But our yearly meeting is by all means not the only feat to rejoice to in 2015, our many educational programmes will continue to provide excellence in MR clinical education (School of MRI), advanced MR physics (Lectures on MR) or dedicated hands-on practice workshops (Hands-on MRI).  Please make sure to register well in advance to ensure your place in your course of interest, as places are, as always, limited.

Finally, let me remind you to look at the high-quality publications in our field in our journal MAGMA, which recently introduced email newsletters to all our members with direct links to the latest publications. A certain way to make sure to be read and recognised at the earliest possible time!

And as always, for any update on your society’s newest and best offers, continue to like us on Facebook (@ESMRMB) and follow us on Twitter (@ESMRMB).

Wishing you all Happy Holidays and a very MR-Happy New Year!

Xavier (@ProfXGolay)
ESMRMB President

 ESMRMB/ISMRM Teach-the-Teacher in Clinical MRI
With a successful launch this year, two of five candidates in 2014/2015 finished their two month fellowship programme at high class and much appreciated hosting institutes and tutors, who reinforced the mission of the programme: to spread application and research in the field of MRI, aiming to fostering the MR knowledge/skills and the didactical competence to young radiologists from emerging countries. They emphasised that the programme has had an enriching impact on an educational, as well as personal level, gaining in-depth knowledge as well as new friends within the field. 4 of 5 candidates from India and China are kindly supported by GE Healthcare. Are There Differences between Macrocyclic Gadolinium Contrast Agents for Brain Tumor Imaging?

The TRUTH study, published online on October 9 in the American Journal of Neuroradiology, has shown that ProHance (gadoteridol) and Gadovist (gadobutrol), at the same dose of 0.1 mmol/kg, provide similar contrast enhancement, quality of lesion visualization and ability to characterize lesions in brain MRI.
The TRUTH  Study was a multicenter, randomized, within-patient comparison of the two agents in 198 patients with known or suspected brain tumors. Authors concluded that the two fold higher gadolinium concentration in Gadovist formulation offered no benefit over ProHance for routine morphologic imaging of brain tumors.
